Clicking on a binding to delete it, the game say to hold the Xbox menu button instead of ESC like it does for keyboard keybinds. And unfortunately, due to a another bug, it seems you can’t remove those mouse bindings. In case anyone else runs into it: the bug seems to be triggered when you set a mouse button to either toggle underbarrel or switch fire mode. I ended up figuring out the bug, thankfully. Tried doing a repair of the game install, tried uninstalling/reinstalling, nothing. I tried blowing out all my settings and cache folders twice. So in one life I’d be stuck in single fire mode and then when I respawn I would be in burst, then auto, that sort of thing. I spent two hours troubleshooting an issue where every single time I spawned, my gun was in a rotating fire mode (single/burst/auto) and could not be changed.
Perfectly playable? :) I have a hard time going through a play session where I don’t get a bug where I can’t spawn, a bug where I can’t respawn/revive, spawn with no loadout, spawn and can’t shoot my guns, etc. Did i get them all? feels like i missed a desert one maybe and a western front one? I’ll go look it up… Heh, maybe it emphasizes the most central battlefield concept ever, the one ingrained in every version since BF42: One step forward, two steps back.Īs an aside, does anyone remember how many maps dropped with 42? I’m gonna go by memory and see what i can come up with: (desert) gazala, alamein, (pacific) midway, coral sea, iwo jima…oh, and that other pacific map that i cant recall the name of, with the island and the subs on either side…Eastern Front (stalingrad, kursk, kiev, berlin)…Western front(omaha beach, market garden, bulge). In the end, ya, they can patch it (and they will). Character quips? It works great in Apex, but it doesnt feel right in battlefield. And it doesn’t seem to know or care what its core customers want. This game wants to be part battle-royale, part…i dunno, CoD? And doesn’t remember or really respect its roots. Maybe this is the critical sin the game commits: it doesn’t know its customers. We probably could have bounced and tried another game, but maybe it also would have be orbital. I even played orbital twice because that’s what the server decided for me. Are there more maps? I dunno, i havent played them. But I played what feels to be only one of three maps available(Orbital, the other two being the snow one and the city one). I hopped into two rounds last night and had an ok time of it. It doesn’t make it bad so much as it makes it the same (and different from prior battlefields). Choosing a server(and choosing to stay on/leave a server) Choosing a side Choosing a class Choosing a gun Choosing a spawn point Choosing a vehicle.Īnd this game throws much of that away in the vein of what its competitors (and battle royale) have done → streamlining. I think the raison d’etre of Battlefield is probably choice.
